    Yakima Front Loader overstuffed

    Greetings

I just got a bike with 29" x 3.0" tires & when I went to put it on my rack, noticed the largest rack setting is 29" x 2.7"

I gave it a shot anyways & it seemed to work fine.

Am I doing damage to bike / tires or rack that I'm not aware of?

I really don't want to invest in a new rack & may just end up stuffing it in the back of the car again.

    Thanks

If for some reason the bike ejects or the rack fails, all the liability is on you. It may be ok but it depends on your comfort level, and willingness to step up if you are wrong and the bike flies through someone's windshield or damages your car (most likely scenario).
Mount up your bike in the rack and really try to push the front tire up through the rack wheel hoops. Tire pressure will be a factor.
Note the HighRoad is only $40 more, fits 3.5" tires, is faster to install, better security.

well it will only upload a single photo it seems
you can see how there is a gap between the tray and the tire - i assume that's not ideal
i get that i'm outside the warranty allowance by putting a tire larger than recommended - but having to buy a whole new rack is a real tough pill to swallow & if works "good enough" , then so be it

i'll keep trying to add a side pic
