    Yakima bars

    Holy cow they are expensive. I need to replace some 48" ones and MSRP on these baby's are $70? For two bars? Anyone think I could dyi something up? Cut down a couple broom sticks?

    Well what I would do is look on craigslist, I got my whole thule setup( 2 load bars, footpacks, locks, fairing) for $90. People are always selling them. Just my .02

    I know, I'm watching for some. I just can't get over what they charge for bars, considering they are just steel tubes with a plastic sleeve over them. Ironically, I would think that the towers would be much more expensive considering the moving parts. I guess maybe the bars subsidize some of the cost of the towers?
