    VW Touareg/bikes in back

Does anyone that has a Touareg know if you can fit 1-2 bikes in the back with the front wheels off and the seats folded down? I haven't seen the inside of one with the seats down. I am considering the 2008 model if it is different inside.

I am also interested in feedback on any other mid size SUVs that you can fit 2 bikes in. Other shtat I am considering are the GX470, Cayenne, and X5.

Thanks for any info you can provide

I have a Touareg and I have fit one road bike in the back. I had to the lay the seats down. I am almost positive you could fit another.

I now use a Softride Dura Rack on the hitch. So much easier. I can lock the rack at the hitch and lock the bikes with the included cable.

I think most Touaregs have the option of a 2" receiver for a bike rack, at least all the V10TDI's came with them standard.

With the wheels off I can fit 3 bikes in the back seat of my 89 325I BMW. When I had a Cherokee I could easily fit 2 bikes with both wheels on. It amazes me how heavy and large new vehicles are but they still have less performance than something made 20 years ago.

I can fit two bikes in the back of my Touareg. I have to take the fronts wheels off, but they both fit in the back just fine with the front wheels off.

Should not be an issue at all. I can fit three bikes with the wheels off in my Forester. It ain't easy or convenient, but it can be done.

Two is easy. And a Tourag is a lot bigger I would think than a Forester.
