    Thule Criterium - Frame damage?

    All,

I've seen on various forums not to use a frame clamp on Carbon frames, and some even recommending against it on Aluminum frames.

Fact is I really like the looks and the ease of use of the Criterium (ease on/off the rack and bike as well <1 minute) and locks better than the Side arm. The side arm takes ~5-10 minutes to install/de-install and locking mechanism is a joke if you have a quick release wheel.

So the question - despite people saying "don't do it" has anyone here ever seen/experienced frame damage from using a clamp style rack directly on a Carbon or Aluminum frame? Seems despite the warnings I still read/see people doing it. Perhaps they are just unaware?
