    Subaru Outback Trailer Hitch Question

I have 2007 Subaru Outback Wagon that I'm looking to put a hitch on so I can use my Yakima rack. Looking at hitch specs it appears the mount is recessed 8 inches from the face of the rear bumper. At this distance the tongue on my Yakima rack won't reach the mount. When raised the rack won't clear the rear bumper.

Can anyone tell me how far back their mount is from the rear face of the bumper? What brand hitch are you using? Which rack are you using?

I'm thinking I'll need to use an extension to clear the bumper.

    Any help would be appreciated....

I have put a Hidden Hitch on my mom's 07 OB wagon and the hitch starts at 3.3/4" away from the back of the bumper. My 1Up rack fits very nicely on her car as it does on my 2011 OB wagon, which has about the same measurement also with a Hidden Hitch.

Thanks for the info, Oscar. That's good to hear. I just ordered a Hidden Hitch from Etrailer. Was worried because the install video states the pin is 8 inches from the face of the bumper. The pics don't look that far though. So I was concerned about the fit. So some first hand experience is appreciated.

I ordered an extension just in case...but hope I can get by without it.

    Thanks!

Your welcome!! The 1Up Rack doesn't require a pin anyway as the assembly is held in place with a SS ball that really holds the rack in place..You shouldn't need the extension and if you do, remember that an extension reducess the hitch's capacity a bit. This info should be enclosed with that piece.
