    Saris Rack Bounce

I recently purchased a new hitch adapter for my Saris Freedom 2 rack. I lost my previous U-shaped adapter that came with the rack and ordered a replacement from Saris. It is not the same, this is a full 4-sided sleeve that slides over and bolts to the rack.

I get it installed and mounted on my hitch, bolted tight and there is a lot of vertical play/bounce that wasn't happening with the previous adapter. This can't be right, can it?

I have a Superclamp 2. I don't think mine bounces that much. Once the bolt is tightened down it's solid. My adapter looks like yours. I think there are 2 holes on the adapter for the hitch bolt to go through. Are you hitting the right one?

I went and actually checked. I do get up and down play like that on mine. I never noticed it before.

Can it be pushed further into the receiver? It seems like it sticks out too far.

This should fix verticle play. There are other options out there as well with a different design.

Interesting things come up when one googles "rack bounce".
I would advise not taking my advice.

Try googling "C-Ring" at work (a description of a type of connector we use), that was a mistake. I couldn't close my browser fast enough.
