Upset Saris freedom 2 - cheap lock.

Well, today I received my replacement rack. Sent the last one back because the cable was manufactured incorrectly and would not function properly.

I wonder if Saris has a QC department?

should I return it & go with a different company ?

Well, after posting my video to Saris Facebook I was asked to call a # that was provided.
I believe the person I spoke with was the marketing director of Saris. I was told my video was shared with their engineering team and they went to the assembly department and we're able to duplicate the issue.

They were able to correct the problem in the design and are now in the process of manufacturing the corrected lock. Without my video they would have continued to manufacture and install the flawed lock.

They then asked if I still had the rack. I told them that it is still in the box and I was just waiting to decide what I was gonna do such as keep it or return it.

They then asked if I would be able to return it to where I bought it. I said yes since I bought it from Nashbar.

They tell me that they would like to compensate me since I had a issue with 2 racks and helped them diagnos a flaw.

They are shipping me a new rack with the corrected lock free at no charge. 👍

That is awesome that they are taking care of you and the issue. Customer service like that is what makes me want to support a company. When I am in the market for a new rack, I will seriously consider this one.

I know there is no perfect product.
This isn't my first Saris rack. I have one of the Axis hitch racks.
But their warranty is top notch.
I will keep buying Saris products.

    Good job!

Well. Finally have the good rack installed. Installed the fatbike cups.
    Well made rack. Good quality.

    I'm happy with it.

Wife and I enjoyed the weekend.

How hard is it to go from my 4.8 inch fatty tires, to my 2.35 inch bike wheels? I might ride both in the same day. I need a versatile rack.

I keep the rear wheel fatbike wheel cup on. I just change out the front cup when transporting the 29er. Takes 30 seconds to change the front cup. The rear fatbike cup will work with 2.35 wheel.

Since this is a 2 bike rack. Just install the fat bike cups one side .

Thanks Rubzerk. I sometimes have two fat bikes, but it's nice to know that it is a quick change.
