Roof Rack install, paint protection worth it?

Well I finally have my Mazdaspeed 3 out of storage and the time to get my Thule roof rack setup installed, and I was wondering if anyone out there uses any type of paint protection film to prevent any damage to their car under the feet. I have the 460R feet and the proper fit kit (they mount to the mounting points in the roof, not the door jambs like some other racks), so not much of the feet is actually touching the paint.

This is the base of the foot, just resting in place where it would be installed, not much of the actual foot is touching the paint on the car.

Do you think a product like this:

Rack Guard, Roof Rack Paint Protection

would be worth it? I was planning on just washing both surfaces and applying some wax before installing the feet but would love to hear from some other with experience with this sort of thing.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
