Roof Rack Bike Attachments: Fork Mount or Upright Mount

I've always used fork mounts as I like the security of the bike physically clamped to the rack attachment. But with disc brakes, it's more of a pain to take off the front wheel and get the disc rotors recentered in the calipers. How do upright mounts compare to fork mounts? How secure are locking upright mounts against theft?

I dont see how this can be a problem. Those things only go one way. Ive never had a problem aligning the front wheel. if it wasnt aligned, it would be visually obvious.
