Prius 2008 ..Which rack is better? Sherpa/1up/Thema

Hi
I have a prius 2008. I am thinking to use a hitch rack but I just read that the sherpa does not fit well in some cars . So I just wondering if somebody use a Prius with a hitch rack. I have a full suspension so I would like to use like Skerpa (kuat), 1up or the thelma for saris.
I will really appreciate you help and pictures.

Thanks

A lot depends on how your hitch receiver was installed. Sometimes they end up way under the bumper, and that is when you have fit issues with racks and bikes.

My A4's hitch is pretty far under the bumper, but I still have plenty of room for my 29er with funky wide bars on a 1Up rack.

The Pruis being a wagon kinda car might have the same issues. There is a lot of overhang behind the rear axle, and low to the ground as well. Most Prii (plural?) I've seen have the hitch receiver right up with the rear bumper.

I don't think it will really be a problem, honestly.

I will add that the 1Up rack lets you slide it in and out of the receiver. That is, there is no fixed hitch pin in there, so you aren't locked into any one position. It secures itself with a clamp-like device... a ball forced against the inside of the hitch receiver. It's way secure.

If you needed to buy an extra inch or two, the 1Up will let you do that. As long as there is a safe amount of the bar in the receiver, you're fine.

I will ckeck that. I like the 1UP but I think is a little expensive becuse $300 for a bike is a little too much. The sherpa is around $380 for two bikes and weight 27 lb I thought that the 1UP was lither but I think is around 26 lbs anyway I hope somebody can told me about the serpa and the prius if not I think the 1UP will be the one.

you don't have any troubles with the pedals, right?

The Sherpa will fit but it might require trimming the plastic parts to clear the bumper for folding depending on the exact location of your hitch receiver. It isn't a big deal to trim it and it is worth it to have a super light 2 bike rack that looks and functions great.

The pedals can hit the bumper on my Golf, but I simply orient them properly before placing my bike on the rack and they don't move (even on the race bikes with super free drivetrains). If you were really worried, you could always throw a couple small pieces of clear protective film from crankskins.com on the bumper in the places where the pedals might hit.
Try to be good.

I will install the hitch this weekend (I hope) , I really like the Sherpa light, 2 bikes, price is fair, lock and cable , wow good deal. I think another good option will be the Thelma too.

Do you have some picturesof you car? I would like to know the distance between hitch and the end of you car. I saw the video in youtube etrailertv's Channel - YouTube and in the 2:11 looks that the rack has a nice arm that goes to the hitch, the car is a Jetta.

Pedals have plenty of clearance with the 1Up.

I strongly considered the Sherpa, but I couldn't find one locally to test fit, and it was published that the max wheelbase was like 44 inches. All of my bikes are 45" plus. It was also important to me to be able to fold up and stick in the trunk of my car, and the Sherpa doesn't fold down very much.

Yeah, I really wish I could carry the second bike, but 90% of the time it's just me in my car alone. I'll save up for the second tray, but for now I'll stick my bud's bike in the back seat with a moving blanket.

I found this so maybe is a option.

You don't have to trim the tray

I want to buy something that I don't have to be worry about the pedals o clearance.
