    Pickup Truck with cap setups?

I've got a 2002 Dodge Dakota which I just scored a midrise cap for. I'm looking for ideas with what others have done with these setups. I'm looking to have 2 bikes mounted in the back but also have a removable bunk (when using the bunk I would only need to carry 1 bike) for overnight trips for camping in.

Here is the space I have to work with ( approx 6.5'x4'10") :

Hmmm...you might get better ideas over at Expeditionportal.com.

If I were you, I'd plan on taking off the front wheels and building some type of fork-mount that allows the bikes to be stored on either side of you, using the space that the bunk cannot occupy (ie: wheel wells). Count on turning the bars so that the widest part of the bike when in there is the crank/pedals.

If you can get comfy with a bed setup between the wheel wells, it should work fine with two bikes in tow...

The bunk will sit up off the floor of the truck bed just enough to go over the wheel well. I'm figuring a 2' wide platform about 9" high would do the trick. Just having trouble optimizing the rest of the available space for bike and gear.

I'll check out expeditionportal.com like you suggested.
