    new rack for my truck....

    One of my friends has a MIG machine and helped me put this together saturday.... yakima isnt getting $4539604000 from me for some crappy peice of metal they call a rack.......im 200+ and can hang on the end of it and it dosent budge....(btw uploading pics sucks, all this resizing such...)

    was there anything wrong with the bed of the truck?
    (nothing flamitory, just curious)

    not until...

    i put the truck box in. i used to just pile them in the bed, but its such a small truck its really hard to fit more than two bikes in the bed with the box (esp when you consider gear and such). usually have 4 or 5 bikes on there for shuttles.

    you might consider some padding for the bars, atleast on the ends.

    there are...

    tubes slid over the bars, you just cant see them in the pic bc they fit on there so perfectly.....not really padding, but does a nice job of preventing scratches.

    I have no welder; I used threaded pipe from Home Depot and built this. It hella strong, I've put 4 big bikes back there (and another three on the roof!).

    Load upside down with first bike flush against box, then alternate direction of bikes. Should be able to get ~4 still
