Max speed for a roof rack (Thule Sidearm 594XT preferred)?

I currently use a hitch mounted rack on my GTI & S2000, but I'm looking at getting a car with no hitch-mount options. I live about two hours from my favorite trail with a fair amount of highway and I try to go with the flow of traffic, which at times can reach 90mph. How fast can I reasonably go with something like the Thule Sidearm 594XT?

I am using 594XT racks and I have gone at least 80. Cross winds on long bridges concern me more than driving fast but I haven't had any issues at all. Love the rack, super convenient.

Very few cars really have no hitch options. The bigger issue is they usually don't sell the option here in the states vs. the same car in Europe. What are you getting?

Sidearm at 80mph is something I have done without issue.

Thanks all! I'm coming close to being able to realize my life-long dream of owning a 911 and one of the big selling points for me is that it's one of the few sports cars with a factory integrated roof-rack system. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any solid hitch mount options. There's a bumper/license plate hack out there, but I don't trust it.

I worry less about straight line speed than lateral loading. I'm pretty sure my car can grip harder in corners than the bike rack. That said, I keep the speed in double digits when there is a bike on the roof.

I regularly took two bikes on the freeway with the thule sidearm, while it was fine going over 80 I found my car performed dramatically better fuel wise if I kept it at 70.

I did 400 miles round trip, kept it between 75 and 85 for the most part and lost around 10mpg according to the computer. Glad the wife's car gets great fuel economy as it is!

It would be silly to try to kludge a hitch mount onto a 911 when the factory roof rack is so robust. 160ish MPH robust and very spirited cornering and braking with two bikes on top robust.

There is no worry about the lateral grip of the car ripping the bike rack off. If it's a concern then switch to a fork mount rack like the Kuat.
