    Homemade Swing Out Bike Rack

Anyone tried making something like this:

    Red October - MWE Racks

It seems like a person could make something similar relatively easy with some channel iron and a welder.

I'm surprised more companies aren't doing platform-swing out racks with all the DH bikes being hard to attach to a vehicle.

I certainly wouldn't use channel, too heavy. I'd use .095 or .120 wall square or round tubing. Be pretty easy to make, I've done tire swing outs on Jeeps. Look at Destaco latches.

I was looking at something like this as well. I thought the hinges would get a little pricy for 3 of them.

What about a hand winch setup on a longer hitch with a destaco latch. When you release it the rack folds down for access....a little easier imo
