Hitch Receiever extension with bike rack

Question.... Have anyone had any issues using a Hitch extension when using a Bike Hitch rack.... The reason I'm asking this is because I have a Land Rover and the Hitch receiever is designed to be under the rear bumper, not like most cars. I can install a bike rack, but It won't close. When I fold it, it would hit the rear bumper.... By using an extension I will be able to use it, but Yakima does recomend by any chance to use one. I dont know why. but the Hitch Receiver in my SUV delivers a 7,716-lb. trailer load capacity and a tongue weight capacity of 550 lbs.

I will only be using the Hitch to carry my bikes.. Is there any problems by using a Hitch extension? have anyone had any issues by doing it?

    thanks

we use extensions for these hitches all the time....
go to etrailer.com and get the he06.
then go to softride.com and get the 25219
and don't think about it anymore...guaranteed to solve your problems properly...

I'd recommend also getting a pair of these anti-rattle locking hitch pins and torquing them down when you mount it up:
