    Hitch rack for a jeep?

I am thinking of getting a hitch rack. Does anyone know if there is a model that will fit with the spare tire on? I can get one that fits on the spare tire but I really need a 4 bike carrier. Any thoughts? Thanks,

Jeep what? If it's a YJ or TJ, the Thule T2 fits even with a 31" spare.

I'm pretty sure the T2 will clear. Never had experience with a CJ, but see no reason why it wouldn't.

If you already have the hitch, do what I did. Go to an LBS and test fit before buying.

they also have extention pieces but with a 4 bike thats really gonna be a long lever if you have to go out further than standard to start.

Regarding the extension: Shouldn't need it. On CJ's the spare should be even higher than on a newer model with 3rd brake light. Distance out to clear the bikes shouldn't even an issue with something as large as 35x12.50's, height to clear the drop lever and still open the tailgate is.

I'd be real surprised if it's even an issue on a CJ w/ 31's.

Yakima makes (or made) a spare tire mount hitch rack. I'll try and post up some pictures of it.

Don't how the CJ is, but the tire mount/swing door is kinda flimsy on the TJ. I'd be real uncomfortable with a 31" and two or more bikes.

Here's my Jeep Bike Rack Solution I will be doing.
If you want to find out more go to this thread https://forums.mtbr.com/cars-bike-racks/mountain-bike-jeep-rack-options-350884.html and there's a link to the guy who makes the Tire Carrier. I'll be modifying his Tire Carrier once I get it to hold one bike.
