    Help Identifying Car/Rack Combo

    Hello everyone-

I stumbled upon this car last night and for some reason I just loved the body style and how it wore its roof rack. I've been looking for a small and inexpensive car to haul my bike and for around town (I'm in college, money is short).

I took some pictures, but they're low quality and it was dark, unfortunately. I'll upload them regardless.

First I thought it was some older Nissan, like a 300zx or a 240sx, but they did not match upon closer inspection. The front kinda looks like a Porsche 944, but the rear ends are completely different. There were no markings on the car- no model, brand, or anything.

    Thanks in advance.

    Sure is. Thanks guys.

It's too bad it has a rotary engine.. I wouldn't want to replace those apex seals over and over again.

They actually last quite long now. Certainly no worse than a timing belt or head gasket replacement on a piston engine.....

    The newer RX-8 kicks @$$~

That right there, one of my favorite Mazda RX-7's. The first generation RX-7 had two chassis designations: SA22C (in Japan) and the FB (in North America).

Leading reason why it's my favorite though is that it was the one most used in rallying. Hell, someone even made a bat****-crazy Group B rally car out of it!

Thats pretty cool, I never saw a roof rack on one of those.
You can get 200-300k miles out of a 1st generation rx7 motor before apex seals and rotor housings wear down to the point where a rebuild is needed. Mazda had issues in early 70's with the rx2, rx3 but by the time the rx7 was sold they had it pretty much figured out.
