GPS units - need something inexpensive for road trips

So after doing several multi-week trips using little more then a phone and road atlas i've decided it would be nice to step up to a GPS for nav. I'm looking to spend around $100 or less if that's possible. Something that will get me to trailheads in the mountains out of cell tower range or something that I can navigate fire roads with. Anyone using something cheap that they like?

If you want to go really cheap, there are smartphone apps that you can download off-line maps with. I often use Pocket-Earth. You can load a lot of area (like entire states) for off-line use (no data service). Even with google maps, you can load some area to use off-line, but not much.

If you want a really great phone mount for your dashboard, check this out:

I have been much happier with an iPhone in a dash mount then I ever was with an actual GPS car unit.
15mm is a second-best solution to a problem that was already solved.
