Good Rack for car without receiver with stumpjumper bike(odd frame design) ?

    Hi.

I am looking for a bike rack to fit a bike that does not have a slanted bar on the frame.

    http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkM...=07Stumpjumper

Also, my car does not have a receiver so I would need something that can attach to the trunk somehow. ( Lexus LS 430)

Please let me know if anyone has any recommendations.

my focus has a yakima roof rack.

    safer.

although on the van we use a saris hitch rack that the bikes wheels sit in.

you can also do an internet search for an aftermarket hitch mount for your car.

    try here:

then you can get whatever hitch rack you want.
I just like riding my mountain bike.

You might be able to put an after market receiver on your car. We had one installed on our mini van. It was about $100 without a wiring harness, as we only wanted a rack. If you go that route, get a 2" receiver. You'll have a wider choice or racks, and stronger ones at that.

... a trailer hitch and flatbed type bike rack. There is no such thing as a trunk rack that won't mess up your paint, and it sounds like you have a nice car. Unless you have roof rails, same goes for the roof racks. I wouldn't jack up a nice car with a trunk rack or roof rack.

If you must go with a hanging type hitch rack or trunk rack, you get one of these kinda thingies:

There are a bunch of different brands out there, but you basically hook this between your seatpost and stem so you can hang your bike.
