    General Question

I just bought a Thule T2 and lock. I plan on leaving the rack on my car all the time. Is this wise, or should I take it of in the rain and snow? I am just wondering if a (high quality) rack like a thule or Yakima would rust if left on the car all the time?

I have had the same rack mounted full time for about 15 years now. I have gone through 3 different cars in that period, all used the same rack hardware, just different clips. All were were parked outside full time. Between the 3 I'd guess nearly 300k miles and no rust on the rack. But... I live in NM, IOW the desert SW.

EDIT: to mention it is a Yakima rack with lockjaw bike mounts. FWIW, if I had to buy another roof mounted rack now, it would be the Thule.
You better take care of me, Lord. If you don't you're gonna have me on your hands.

Why not take it off? It takes less than a minute, store it in your trunk if you need it often.
