    Finally...a rack!

my old 26" ht fit inside of my hatch just fine, but it was like playing tetris trying to fit a 29er in there...it was time for a roof rack....ended up getting a pretty good deal on craigslist.

my question is, how much better is a highroller...is it worth the $180ish if i already have a raptor?

    nice score on craigs list....
fyi, that's not a raptor, it's a lockjaw, but will do the same thing.
i can't tell if your frame is carbon or not, but we always discouraged heavy clamping of a rack on carbon frames. this is where the highroller would be an advantage.

thanks...i'm only about $200 in total after getting the spare parts/q-clips/locks i needed. thanks for the tip about the lockjaw...i thought it was just the raptor's previous design. my frame is aluminum so i'm not worried about that...just stability.

The only thing that gets me about the high roller (actually, there are two things) are:

    1. They seem to be a bit wobbly side to side.

    2. The internal ratchet mechanism in the front wheel holder cannot be inspected. I stripped one (there's a whole story there) and thought it was still working ok but when I compared it to my other one, it wasn't ok.

Other than that, I'd probably drill out the rivet so that cable wasn't there and just add my own later.

    The Highrollers are nice.

I've replaced the lockjaw with a highroller and do notice it's a little wobbly, but it feels safer and more secure than the lockjaw. the plastic covers on the sides are a ***** though...constantly popping loose.
