    Custom Setup

Here's the idea. Any opinions/suggestions would be appreciated.

I've got a new Nissan Frontier and just ordered a thule lowrider bike mount.

It's meant to bolt right into the bed but I'd hate to drill into a new bed and risk it rusting over the years. My plan is to take a plank of really sturdy wood (Doug fir) and lay a 10" wide piece across the front of the bed and bolt it into there. I'll have little brackets that mount into hooks. I havn't finished it yet but I want to build some sort of storage compartment under the board or something for the front tire.

    Any suggestions/concerns? Thanks.

    great idea.
i don't know if your nissan has the tracks inside the bed or not...if it does, check out the rocky mounts clutch SD. it mounts into the tracks.
then you could make the wood storage compartment even bigger...

It's the standard model so no rails. I'll post some pics when I make some progress with it!
