    CB/Ham Radio

What's your CB/Ham Radio set up? Looking to outfit one of my rigs for remote travel. Advice?

I run an FTM-400XDR, which is a very popular dual-band ham radio. Dual-band is especially handy if you want to use APRS since that will tie up one. I'm using a Larsen NMO 2/70 antenna on a Diamond K400S NMO mount. Best advice I can give (which isn't much) is to make sure you know the repeaters for the areas you'll be traveling through. Simplex is good for local group communication, but you'll have better luck hitting a repeater if you really need to reach some one. I use mine for group comms on offroad trips and for general novelty but for emergency use I'd rather have a PLB.
