5 bikes in a cargo van??

    Hi there
seeking advice from downunder - am planning a 25 day trip taking in parts of Arizona, Colorado, Utah in Sept/Oct this year. There are 5 of us coming over so we plan to rent a 25-28' RV, and rent a cargo van to carry the bikes & biking gear.

Anyone hazard a guess (or can measure one for me) as to the inside width of the average cargo van ?? I envisage top & tailing the 5 bikes in the van (estimated combined width once snuggled up = approx 5' 7", could be reduced a bit by placing them real tight together)

Any other bright ideas how we can best haul & accommodate 5 people & 5 bikes ??

    Any insights appreciated.

Just rent an RV that will fit five and a UHAUL trailer. Use the RV to pull the trailer and you will save that much more $ in gas vs van. I had a group of 5 that did the same thing throughout the southwest for 2 weeks. All the bikes, gear, beer, food, etc went in the uhaul trailer and left the inside of the RV for people only and it wasn;t crowded or full of a bunch of crap..

Ditto. Rent a trailer. It'll be cheaper too.
Grit, spit, and a whole lot of duct tape!
