2010 impreza outback sport and roof mount for 29er

any information on what works well and what doesn't. want to make sure whatever i get fits the car (as in not hitting the hatch when open) and what fits the bike well.

    Then why a roof-mount?

why not, don't want something that hangs off the hatch . . . would rather not keep the bike inside the vehicle. frame design doesn't allow for a decent hitch mount. roof mount seems like the best choice for this application, to me.

are you going to be using the factory installed crossbars?
if so, measure from the center of the front crossbar, back (along the same plane) to the point where it interferes with the raised hatch.
i can give you measurements of a bunch of racks once you do that....

10" from centerline of rear crossbar, and yes, i would be using the factory bars.

Just put the bike rail on backwards? I work for a Subaru dealer and see that frequently. Actually I see that frequently with a lot of cars with shorter rooflines.
