2010/2011 Subaru Outback Owners - Bike Fit

Thinking about this and want to know if I can pretty easily get the bike in the back by folding down the rear seats. I'm looking to just put the bike in as is -- no wheel removal or seat post.

Is it possible? Or probably more appropriate -- is it easy or practical? I don't want to have to be a contortionist to get in there.

Would love a roof rack or hitch mount, but I need the security of having the bike inside the car.

    Thanks all.

Hows it going? I have a 2010 Outback and I recently took my 29er and took both wheels off and jammed it in the back without folding the seats down. It wasn't pretty but it is a option. Only reason I did it was because my rack in the back was stuffed with two rigs and we had three riders. But at the end of the day, it did fit and and we got to the top of the trail. Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot. Do you think it would fit as-is with the rear seats down?

I can picture a 26er to fit without much problems. A 29er.....could be a tad tight. If all else fails, remove the thru-axle and within seconds your in and out.

A friend of mine throws his hybrid (complete bike) into the trunk of his 2010 Legacy with the rear seats folded down.

As far as how easily to get it in or out, unfortunately, I've never seen it done in person.

I have no issues tossing any of my fully assembled bikes into the back of my '05 legacy wagon so I would have little doubt that you can do the same on the newer larger model.

Yeah I can do this on a 2001 Forester. The 10/11 Outback will have zero issues.
