2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Wagon hitch options

    Hey Guys,

Just picked up a 2005 Legacy wagon yesterday and need to get a hitch installed. After looking at numerous hitch options, I wanted to see if anyone on here has an opinion.

I want the hitch to be as high out of the way as possible. Some of the pics I am seeing the hitch is nearly on the ground!

I only plan to use the hitch for a bike rack.

Installation looks pretty easy, but Uhaul will install their branded hitch for $200 out the door. The drawback of this is they only offer the 1.25" option.

    Any feedback would be awesome.

I used to have a 2005 Legacy GT wagon with a Draw-Tite hitch. The car was lowered and the hitch scraped everywhere. Ended up swapping it out for an OEM Subaru hitch that was more expensive but fit much closer to the rear bumper. Hope that helps.

froggert is correct the OEM hitch fits the closest at least that seems to be the consensus on the Legacy GT forum
