    1upUSA release lever extension

Not sure if anyone's done this to their rack but I've been meaning to try this out for awhile. I'm probably just being lazy but I have to set my bike (or groceries) down before I can put my rack down to get to my truck (boo hoo). By extending the release lever to the end of the rack, I can be extra lazy and skip the step of setting my bike down

Took me about 15 minutes to mock up and it works pretty well. I'm sure there are better ways to do this but this was quick, simple, and most likely rattle free. I just used a clove hitch with double overhand stopper knot to secure it. Used zips ties to prevent it from moving towards the center of the release.

Only time will tell before the line starts to fray as it runs against the rack but it's cheap enough to replace.

Any suggestions on how to make this any better? The thing that might get annoying is if it keeps working itself to towards the center of the latch which will make it open lopsided. Would really like to just drill holes through it but don't want to compromise it.

    Cheers!

Cool idea. Wouldn't it be easier to just remove one of the trays until you need to transport two bikes?

I'll use both trays at least once a week. I wish I could use just one tray. That way I could actually see out of my backup camera.

Try a prusik knot. It's designed not to slip.
