I am running a 156 with no problems. Plenty of clearance even for a neoprene chain stay protector.

just bought a 1x10 xx drivetrain from him, cheapest anywhere!

I've investigated this and from what I found out the 156Q will fit with about 2.5mm to spare. You may need to add BB30 nylon spacer to be sure the crank is centered in the frame. I intend on running 156 Q on the 2012 Scalpel I have on order. Same frame as the 2011.

Are you guys talking about the 26 or 29 wheeled Scalpel?

I am curious as to if a narrow Q-factor XTR crankset would fit on the Scalpel 29er I have on order..
