    Stock Scalpel tire spec?

I was at my LBS they other day looking at tires and the owner told me he could make me a good deal on Maxxis Hi Roller tires that he had just taken off of a new Scalpel that came in. Why in the world is C'dale putting a big tire like that on the Scalpel of all bikes? Any ideas?

BTW, I noticed on C'Dale's web site that they list the Hutchinson Python Light as being the stock tire....

The 2005 Scalpel 1000 has Hutchinson New Python Light UST, 26 x 2.0. I looked at the Cannondale site and all the Scalpels come with lite race tires. You could go with a 2.1 UST tire. Maybe he put those tires on it or who knows how they got on that bike to begin with.

The 1000 I saw at my LBS had Spider Airlights 2.0 non-UST. Hi-Rollers are on the Prophets.

They are probably on the bikes so they Cannondale could fulfill orders. If all you are waiting on is a tire to ship the bike a simple substitution of another high quality although "overkill" tire for the bike should suffice.
