Sram XX 2x9 with X0 grips??

    anyone tried ...

Sram XX 42/28t chainrings upfront (with Hollowgram KP128 spider )
XTR 9 speed cassette (11/34) on the rears
Sram X0 twist shifts/ grip shift
    XTR 9 Speed chain

Will this set upwork and retain the notorious quick shifts on the Sram XX chainrings

Im currently running a 2x9 (44/29 and loving it) just curious about the XX 42/28 chainrings.

    No

I ran 2X9 last year with XO grip shifts XX Front Derailleur and a 26-39 XX crank on my Flash 29'er. I switched to full 2X10 this year with XO trigger shifters and rear derailleur and the front shifting was dramatically improved. I think it was too easy to get caught halfway between rings with the grip shifts. The triggers encourage a full shift movement and the chain is forced to move quickly between rings. Plus, having the trigger shifters already set up for 2 rings seemed to make everything work more clean and precise.

    Yup works nice.

I'm using Grips converted to 10V rear now.

Front, you only need to go full on, the end screws prevent you of doing wrong.
    No need for intermediate positioning.

You go up or down and that's it.

so the XX 42/28 chainrings will work with a 9 speed cassette , a bonus if I can use my X0 gripshift

    thanks for the inputs

I'm running xx 2x9 with x.0 grip shifters. Works great with 9 spd chain but even better with a 10 spd chain.

Nope GXP and BB30 have the same rings. The only thing you have to make sure of is that they are not the custom for Specialized BCD. Standard is 80/120 and Specialized has custom rings for more teeth options, but the BCD is 64/104.

Another suggestion would be to order the Specialized (old style standard XX 80/120 BCD) spider and ring combo, its only a few dollars more than the chainrings and it comes with the bolts. Its what I did because the major distributor in the US for LBS's (QBP) didnt carry bolts at the time.

    Hope this helps.

I don't see why it wouldnt, but I have heard of flex issues with the Red der., because of the titanium cage, which is why I got a Dura-Ace.
