Looking for advice: F400 with blown seals in Super Fatty

    Hi all,

So the head shock on my 2005 F400 is leaking and not holding air. I'm reaching out to Mendon Cyclesmith to see what they can do for me, but I also am contemplating a complete fork swapout.

I did most of my mountain biking back before suspension was viable and have never been thrilled with the shocks I've had on my bikes. So I'm thinking about swapping my Super Fatty for a rigid 29er with either a 1.5 steer tube or 1-1/8 + adapter. My thought is that without suspension I've got plenty of space for the larger wheel and a 29'er will help smooth out the bumps that I'll be hitting without a spring in front of me.

Has this been done? Any tips, warnings, or cautionary tales would be welcome.

    thanks,

    Rigid 69er sounds fun!

But Mendon can probably fix you up too.

    Good luck.

I did ship the fork to Mendon. Should be back tomorrow. Next time it blows out I'll look at the swap.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.
