    Flash 29 stem length

    Hello All,

loving my Flash 1 aluminum 29er! i am thinking about trying a shorter stem (90mm, frame is large). Anybody else running a stem this short? I am wondering how it effects the bikes handling? Do things get wonky? Seems like shorter stems on 29ers is not uncommon but I guess it depends on what the bike was designed around.

    thanks

Hi...I'm using a 80mm stem and like it a lot. I'm also on a large. However, all my other bikes have 60 and 50mm stems, so for me 80mm is long! The one that the bike came with, 120mm I think, seemed huge. I replaced it before leaving the LBS with the new bike, so I have no experience with it. I would have gone with a 70mm if it wasn't for the lefty's clearance.

babu, what stem you're using? I have the original OPI 100 mm on my Flash Carbon, but I need a shorter one.

I forgot to mention...I have the Flash 1 aluminum which comes with the regular C1 stem and not the OPI, like yours.

    Oh, ok.
It's weird, but at least from official pics Cannondale uses both types.
    Cheers!
