I will caution anyone thinking of getting a pair... there is some problem with the Lefty front hub design, that might require the use of shims to get the side-play out. This was the case with my wheel set, I'm waiting on shim(s) right now. Mavic has acknowledged the problem (over the phone) and will provide the shims to a dealer of your choice.

    Looks Sweet

Looks sweet. I have had a crossmax on my jekyll for 3 years now with not problems. I had a woodman lefty hub in the front built up at my lbs for me and it's great. If mavic is having problems---that is a great way to avoid them!

I read somewhere that this particular issue was on the first Lefty specific Crossmax and that it had been corrected by Mavic since. Mark, maybe you just got a wheel that has been sitting in the shop's stock room for too long.

    Upset same problem !!!!

And I got my lefty crossmax wheel just two months ago.
I had the same sideplay ...Maybe I also got a "old" one.
They (mavic) send some special washers to my LBS (0.4 MM) and I used 1 to solve the problem.

U guys and your metrics... roughly .4MM is .015.

I used the poor man's solution. Mavic wouldn't send me squat... I cut three shims from a .096 mm thick 7-up can (3 X .096mm = .011) and it solved my side play problem. I was going to use a beer can but I didn't have an empty one, and emptying one might have affected the quality of the end product :-) Plus, I hit the trails shortly after having fixed the hub.
Below is a shim template glued to the aluminum sheeting. I glued 4 side by side and didn't cut this one out. It turns out the inside diameter doesn't have to be close at all since the shoulder width on the bearing bore is only about 1/3 as wide as the bearing width.

Apparently Mavic missed their design tolearance from .010-.015 and isn't doing anything to correct the problem if the poor buyer who laid down cash for the most expensive wheelset out there doesn't complain. Nice job guys!
