    Broken Scalpel

Last week I noticed a crack in the swingarm of my 2013 Scalpel 29er 3 and took t to the shop I purchased it from. Cannondale has offered to replace the swingarm with a 2014 model, which had different graphics. I told them I did not want to accept a non-matching swingarm. According to the shop, Cannondale will not do anything else and said I have no other options than a non-matching swingarm.

I am not happy, as I have owned 7 Cannondales over the years. What are your thoughts? Anyone had a similar experience? How did you get them to make the situation right?

Just be glad the new one is still mostly white. But i've had issue with other brands just sending a generic black painted part and saying you're s.o.l. on it. If they dont have the part, they dont have the part.

You're out of luck, best case scenario you get it re-painted to something that matches better.

This is quite common unfortunately. Is there a big difference in colours?

having a bike with warranty replacement mismatch should be worn like a badge of honor. It is a reminder for your friends that you are a bad a$$ and the sheer power of your legs broke the chain stay.. ok, I know it was really a weld failure.. but you get the idea.

Good luck with the new color.

Im in Australia and i seen cannondale replace a whole scalpel frame as it cracked vertically down the seat tube. Push them harder and speak with higher management if you have too!!!

I suppose that is a matter of cost. If you brake the front triangle it would make more sense to send a whole new frame but if you brake the chainstay then usually they replace just that and this is what happened to a friend of mine with a Scott Spark. Luckily it was the same color.

Anyway I would try to push further in order to get the same colour but if they are out of stock it would be difficult to just paint this part.

The replacement is the same color, just different graphics. I suppose I should not complain.
