a rather silly question about the 08 F1 Jedi.

    hey guys,
i own a 08 F1 Jedi, and i use a 27.2 seatpost with some kind of a reducer for the seat tube.

now, i want to buy a new seatpost, and the canfield bros website says to use a 30.9 mm seatpost with the new jedi,

i tried using a 30.9 seatpost on mine and it didnt fit [needless to say i removed the reducer], is that possible? or should i recheck the seatposts?
[i dont have much seatposts to choose from

    thanks!

The 2008's came from the factory with the shim in place. The factory had screwed up so instead of the factory fixing the problem by reaming the seat tube a few more times they decided to just throw shims in there and send them out.

There are plenty of seatpost options in 27.2. Thomson makes them if you want a really nice one or Sette (pricepoint.com brand) makes them if you want a still pretty nice one for really cheap.

I never looked into getting my seatpost reamed but that may be an option. I would definately contact the canfield brothers first though before you start shaving metal away.

thank you for the fast reply!

didnt know that about the shim thingy with the jedi, when i measured it with the caliber it measured to 30.0 inner seat tube caliber so i guess i should look for that size of seatpost?

the thing is that the 27.2 seatpost just looks too skinny for my taste on the jedi :P

but i guess thats just me

    its a titec

It looks fine to me. Maybe get a skinnier saddle to compentsate

The only thing i would worry about when buying a 30.0 is since they left it as is they may not have reamed all the way down so it may not be a consistent 30.0 all the way down or maybe it is. hard to say without trying it.

The pricepoint brand Sette makes a 30.0 seatpost and its only 20 or so bucks. it would be the cheapest way to find out.

If it does work or if you want to risk it a little more i could sell you a 30.0 thomson i have sitting aorund. its in really good condition.

i will try to find some riders with 30.0 mm seatposts just to check if it fits

ive been eyeing the thomson seatpost for the jedi for quite awhile, if i see that its 30.0 all the way i guess ill get the seatpost from you

i wonder where the canfield bros are, havent answered the wheels thread
    maybe attending the redbull rampage?

would be cool to see jedi reps there

Ask friends who have a Transition or Kona. A lot of the older (and some of the newer ones) used a 30.0 and same with the kona's.
