    Help us name our frame

We received a letter informing us that "Riot" is a trademarked name so we get to rename the Riot. We would love to here from all of our friends here at MTBR, if you have a suggestion on what to call it, post em up. In return for the name we like best, we will send the first to post it a pair of Crampon pedals with your choice of model and color.

"Rioteous". As in, righteous dude! Only with "riot" in there, sounds less churchy and more riot...y.

    Civil Unrest
    Uproar
    Conflict
    Striker

I think I am seeing a pattern of violence here...

There should be some violence over this, since the bike's been on the market for what 3 years now.

I guess that is why my Riot stickers fell off!

Could always do the Santa Cruz method (SOLO = 5010). R10T
    (Yes, it is terrible)

But just to have fun with the lawyers, name it:

Cease and Desist (1 sticker per side maybe)

    Some suggestions

    Uproar
    Opiate
    Revel

I also like the before suggested Riotous but think that less syllables is probably better.

Canfield Rowdy 9. With the Yelli being discontinued you can designate your 29ers too with the rename.

Just about everything I came up with I realized was already taken by a bike company. What about "crusader" or "caped crusader?" That bike always makes me feel like batman. Canfield Crusader has a nice ring to it. If that is too contentious, I vote for "Holiday."

I actually did think of that but in all honesty I would not say the Riot is really all about flow or at least that is not what I am reminded of by it. I found the Riot is mostly about hauling ass into chunky rocky rocks, gaping the first 10 feet, landing in the smoothest part you can find and smashing through the rest. Then climbing back to the top to do it again.

Before I said if you did a short travel bike you should call it civil unrest.

A cool name would be Ronin (Samari)

Bummer on the trademark stuff. Specialized?
If you stick with the PED theme of the EPO:
    Anabolic
    hGH
I personally like the sound of Canfield Anabolic.
Or the upheaval theme of the Riot:
    Mayhem
    Havoc
    disturbios
    Melee
    Vandal

Damn! I need to get out more often...

Rogue 9 would have been awesome, sorta similar to Peter Verdone's Red Five, 'cept there was no Rogue nine in the Rogue Squadron on Hoth.

BALAGAN! [it is the context or Riot in Hebrew]

me and my buddies always joke around that the Canfield Brothers frames have a special ingredient called Canfieldium!
"hey man how does your wheels roll so good?"
    - well, i got some Canfieldium in my hubs

so no need to even have the Canfield name on the frame
    just call it - Canfieldium!
17' Canfield Jedi 27.5" - The fast just got faster!
15' Canfield Balance - The go to guy of the bike world!

I like it, but the Bros are going to have to lengthen the top tube just to fit all that in.

They can shorten it to H.A.I.C.R.R.G.t.F.10FT.L.I.N.T.S.P.Y.C.F.a.S.T.T.R .T.C.B.T.T.T.T.D.I.A.

People keep talking about the Riot and keeping a violent theme... uprising, etc.
I always thought the Riot was like having a really good time. "This thing is a riot!" type of deal.
I've seen "blaster" come up once or twice, but keeping with the same theme "this thing is a blast!" seems to work.

So "Blast" is my suggestion, without the 'er' on the end.
    Also these:

    Thrash
    SEG (shit eating grin)
    Unreal

For giving away pedals, when the obvious choice is a frame for the one that names it.

Sith should be reserved for the 29er variant of the Jedi [come to the dark side - the cookies are bigger].

I do like 'Catalyst', as well as 'Rogue 29 // Rogue 9' - those are my favorites.

May still make the most sense to roll with R10T - and reserve the new name for the Carbon version.. but adding a 'c' designation to the end will do (Rogue 29 Carbon --> R9c)

Good. Riot? Sounds stupid. A lot of suggestions here also sound like a lame $100 Kmart bike. You want my opinion? If it sounds cool it's actually retarded. Similar thesaurus words sound just as dumb. Even a random word like 'Box' is better.

If the name has a strong history, you could e.g. check how riot sounds in other languages.

Another vote for "Catalyst". I came across the term helping my son study biology and thought it would be a good name but checked and someone had beaten me to it.

Ok, I've had a few rides on my "not a Riot anymore" and I had some great ideas.

My thoughts on how the bike rides can only be described by something to do with trains, or big-rig trucks, diesel engines, wagon wheels, etc... so here are some ideas based on those qualities:

    Locomotive, or just plain Loco
    Railway
    Boiler
    Combustion
    Big-Rig
    Semi
    Hauler
    Wheeler
    A-Train
    Cabover
    Half-Cab
    Glory Hole
    Lot Lizard

And my new personal favorite that came to me... brought about because this bike reminds me of how an old friend used to describe his manhood...

"It may be short, but it's as big around as a wheel!"

    Half-Chub

Imagine having a Half-Chub with an Avalanche Woodie...!!!

So may good ones, I had 30 names on my short list, haha. I loved some but they just don't work, Little Fatty Fat, I'm looking at you. Names that are long where axed based solely on that. About 90% of the names have bike related company's or products and or trademarks. Shoked to see Fire Eye has a hub called R10T.

Ones we like and can use:
    Toir
    Rise

    Others we like are:
    RT29

I think whatever you chose it should have a 9 at the end. Who doesn't love saying Nimble-9? It would also eliminate confusion as to which FS is 27.5" and which is 29".

I'm biased toward Route-9, but it does kinda sound like a brand of clothing they'd sell at Target, or Kmart.

I like RT29. My initials. Also like Tior, but all caps, TIOR. Flipping the r might be too close for the lawyers. Doesn't matter to me cause I got a Riot! I'm curious what your going to call the carbon version. RT29c? Badass? BMF- Bad motherfcker should be reserved for the 160mm 29er that y'all will build eventually. Ha

There's another variant without the accented O, which is just toir, which means 'radical'.

I still like Opiate as this bike is like a drug to me that makes me forget all adult my worries. Maybe not a very sensitive name but this is Canfield after all.

Other than that, of your list Lance I like Rise. Mighty close to Canondale's Rize though its not so good enough?

Is it Ghost that has the Riot name? If so, name your bike the Canfield Ghost, or Spectre to show them you have a pair.
