Canfield Yelli Screamy with 27.5+ tires

Post up your Yelli Screamy that you converted to the B+. I got a little rub issue in the rear hoping the solid rear axel from Dustyduke22 helps with that or might have to cut some nobbies.

    2014 Canfield Yelli Screamy
    2012 Fox 34 float 29er 140mm fork
Onyx prototype mtb hubs 11-36 in rear going to 11-42
    Velocity blunt 35 rims 27.5
Schwallby Nobbie Nic 2.8 front and rear with 15psi in front and 18psi in rear
    Shimano xt cranks
    Shimano xt brakes
Shimano xt derailleur and shifter 10 speed
    Wtb seat
    Race face nw32 sprocket
780mm bars and 50mm stem they are take offs on another bike

I love this set up runs over anything still pretty fast and fun to ride.

    Killer bike!

Im still getting parts for my 2015 Yelli *sigh*
And I'll be going 29er first and foremost. But I will eventually get a + set of wheels.
Probably the Easton Arc 40's, unless someone talks me into the 35's.
Are the Nobby Nics a tight squeeze on the 15' model?
The WTB Trailblazer seems to be a popular tire for + Canfields. What about the 2.5 Breakout?

Hope you guys can help. Here's my current setup on the Yelli, fat front and 29er rear. I'm thinking about switching to a 27.5+ for the rear. I believe my frame is a 2013. Planning on a 2.8 tire, but unsure which and what's the widest rim I should be looking at? Thanks for any help.

Ooh nice! I debated between the NN or the Breakout. May try NN down the road. I have i29 rims, so they may fit in the CS a touch better than on i35. Wheel diameter for that setup reasonable?

Edit: I believe the Blunt35 is an i30 rim?

The 2015 frame is the same as the 2014 I think? The 2016 frame has a slight change to the CS yoke I believe for better chain ring clearances. I don't recall if there's any extra space between stays though.

The Trailblazer seems to not quite be a 2.8" tire. The Breakout (2.5) seems to be comparable in size. DustyDuke is the man to talk to. He's posted lots of good info on the 27.5+ frame compatibility thread.

27.5 WTB Breakout 2.5 tires on WTB Asym i29 rims, in a 2012 Yelli and 2013 RS Revelation 20mm fork. Crappy pic but you get the idea.

Rear is just fine, 3.0 might be pushing it but the 2.8 on the Spank rim has no rubbing issues....except in the top of the rear cassette lol

1x1clyde- can you snap a couple pics of tire clearance on the rear with that combo? Maybe one in the Yari too?

    That thing is sharp!!

I will once I get it back, just dropped off as the seat post I originally ordered, KS Lev Integra, has arrived at my LBS.
Gotta use that "stealth" routing lol

I've posted this pic on other threads, but a more "natural" pic than in the stand. While the Breakout 2.5 may not qualify as a true plus size tire, it's fairly close. Planning on changing to Nobby Nic's when I need to (2.8). This bike is so much fun. Couldn't be happier that I went with a Yelli frame and built a bike myself.

    Thanks 1x1clyde.

This will be very helpful to me because in my part of the world, nobody sells parts.

    No worries. That's a nn 3.0
I run a 2.8 nn rear on a 35mm rim, a bit of rub on hard corners

If I go 650B+ what will be the specific impact to geometry on the Yelli frame. Will the frame still maintain its famous ride characteristics?
  • 12-22-2016

Geometry, except BB height nothing will change

Thanks esku. Sorry if these are stupid questions...are most of you guys with >2015 Yelli Screamy's with 650+ using 29" or 27.5" forks? Also, will a 2x10 set-up fit with 650B+?

I'm running 3x10 on my B+ setup with just a hint of tire rub in the granny gear.

    I'm using a 29er Revelation 140 on mine.

I got my new Yelli frame two weeks ago. I have a set of 29er Flow rims on Hope Pro2 EVO hubs to go on it. I plan on also building up a set of 27.5+ wheels. The fork will be a Yari 29er 130mm. Would it be worth it to get a 140mm air shaft to swap in the fork for when I run the "+" wheels? Im thinking it will keep the BB height closer to what it is intended to be.

What's the word on a new YS? 27.5+ variant with boost spacing and internal routing? I'd be sold, if that's the case.
