    79er? Anyone done it.

Well I was sitting here looking at my bikes. Since a Longer forked riot is not on the loose has anyone run a big forked 29er on the front of their Balance? Or run a 650b in the back of the Riot and 29er front?

    Welcome to winter haha

When my wife took a jump the wrong way. She cracked a rib, so i got to play mad scientist with her process and the Riot. A 650 rear bike is a little better in the turns, lower center of gravity, and no push from the rear. The Wheel just tracks where the front is going...I understand why the Foes mixer is built. But the rear cant keep up with the front on climbs and square hits descending.

But the stack felt perfect for once lol.

I vaguely recall someone running a 27.5+ rear with a 29er front with good results. However, I can't remember if it was a Riot or Nimble 9.

I ran my Riot with a 27.5 rear wheel for a while last year. The rim was DT xm521 with a 2.6" Nobby Nic. There was plenty of tire clearance and the bike felt great. I had to adjust the angle on my saddle a smidge, but other than that it was seamless. The BB dropped about 0.25" and there was about a 0.5deg (or less) HA change.

The only reason I switched back to 29er rear is the 27.5 wheel felt even better on my Honzo.

I think this could be done with an mrp Bartlett dual crown fork and maintain the geometry due to the lower a2c of a dual crown

I tried B+ on my Nimble 9 and liked it except for the BB clearance. I never could get comfortable with that and had two or three pedal strikes per ride. Was thinking about going 29+ on front with 29 on back buy my fork will not fit a tire that large.

Last week I thought I would try the B+ on the back and keep the 29 on front and I really liked it. the 2.8 Rocket Ron adds traction, acceleration and comfort to the rear and I never felt that uneasiness with the BB. It seemed to make the front end more plush as well I thought.. maybe the change in angle as I run a 120mm fork on the N9 that probably works best with a 140mm. I felt faster but I am not sure so I will have to test that.

Did you go with less travel?
Would an xl jedi accomodate a full travel 29 ( Fox49) fork and if so would there be room to steepen the HA by 1.5*?

No- currently running a fox40 with no clearance but works fine.

No need to steepen the HA- feels great.

If I was to bolt a Fox 49 and a wagon wheel on the front of a Jedi, that's anywhere from a 40 to 50mm gain in front end height. Will this make the Jedi too choppered out?
