Anyone else have a first generation rootdown with the 135mm QR dropouts? I'm trying to determine the widest rim and tire combo I can get away with (the various new 2.6 have me pondering "almost plus size.")

Currently with 22 internal width and maxxis ikon 2.35 on the back for the summer and there's a fair amount of room left in the chainstays so I think I can go bigger (and I am thinking of getting some wider rims, perhaps carbon.)
Baby, I want my face to be your quiver killer.

I have a first run Surface with 135mm axle.

Currently running a LB 30mm rim with 2.35 Rock Razor. Also ran a 2.35 Purgatory before.

R-A-D!!! That's big! Did you get the backside?

I'm hucking off some smaller stuff (~2 feet) to flat I'm feeling it.

Yup! That particular jump is easy if you carry enough speed into. The beauty of the hardtail is it sure let's you know if you hit the knuckle (got a concussion last spring to prove that!)

Not sure - I'm not really a gram counter to be honest. Not sure anyone buying a Stylus is - I believe it's Chromag's heaviest tubeset frame. I would rather a bike I know I can slam into things with confidence. That said, now you have me curious!

Great to see people still posting their Chromags!

Here's the latest incarnation of my Aperture. The seat post quick release is fine, but I'm probably going to add a dropper, maybe wireless/electronic, soonish.

Nice, really want to add a chromag to my bikes and build one up but I can't justify getting another bike at the moment so I might have to let one go before too long.

Just wondering 'cause I got the same pair of tires but in 2.6 I'm thinking of building up a WideAngle around.

The second dark one has a bb height of 322mm, with Kenda 2.6" and a 150mm Pike. Pretty average number imho, no pedal strike issues yet, but it feels pleasantly low.

Same situation here. My bike rack holds 12 bikes. Each time I buy a bike, I need to sell one to make room. Not sure what bike I'm gonna sell yet, likely my Pivot 5.7 Carbon

Question for the Wideangle riders. What is the steer tube length your using? Have one coming post getting taken out by hit and run driver. Fork been offered to get it running but think 150mm steer tube length might be short. Maybe overthinking due to boredome and doing nothing while healing.

For me it would be too short.
My steerer tube is cut at about 6.5" so about 165mm. My steerer tube only goes halfway up that top headset spacer.

What I thought. Will be getting another fork.

What is the biggest size rear tire the Wideangle will fit?
