Just jumped into this thread to the last page without reading earlier posts... and got startled with those.... fluffy.... "dingle balls". I really hope those aren't the latest accessories for MTBs!

Nope, just something I've been known for. I've been running them on my seats on all of my bikes since about 2000. I didn't put them on my last seat and since then, a lot of people have requested I put them back on.

OMG LOL!! I dunno.... I'm torn between being highly offended and highly amused at such unique thinga-ma-bobs as seat accessories.

A single speed, rigid Stache! Cool. I have a Stache (also the older, pre-plus version), but mine still has gears and a suspension fork.

How do you tension the chain? Edit - or am I mis-seeing that? Do you have the newer Stache with sliding drop outs?

Awesome ! Unfortunately this is not the Stache. It is the superfly ss with a fatter tire aka the ones the stache uses up front . The chain tensioner is built into the drops in the rear. Works well though and easy adjust to give you more play if you want at the back.

Haha - so I was severely mis-seeing it ;-) I just saw a hardtail Trek and thought "Stache" without considering that they do, indeed, make some other hardtails ;-)

First full night ride of the season. Had a blast! I forgot how much fun it is to run the full ride in the dark. Had a great sunset too!

That's awesome. I take my 10-year-old about once a week, and he claims to love it and always wants to go but I've never seen him smiling like that! Looks like you'll have a little shredder in no time.

Aaron Gwin draws huge crowd for fundraising event for rider-down hosted by JensonUSA

People drove hundreds of miles to ride with Aaron Gwin, and support a rider-down who's currently in a coma. Some pics of the action:

Pretty cool. Unfortunately for me, yesterday I ran into what seems to be some trail sabotage that slashed my new rear tire, (Maxxis 2.8 DHRII) and cut my ride short. Someone thought it was a good idea to put a bunch of clear broken glass just below the dirt sticking straight up where the trail funneled through the cement barriers. The cut was so big, a tire plug and Stan’s race sealant wouldn’t fix it. Ride over.

First visit to Skypark at Arrowhead. Some really fun trails but you definitely earn them with the uphill climb and altitude. Trails were in better shape at Skypark than Summit but I did miss the chairlifts after 8 or 9 climbs up!

They are. I hucked them right off the trail! But stopping every hundred yards to remove them was a pita! And if they were hit going downhill, especially in the wet, they could cause a bad crash. It’s just fed up that someone would do that.

I had a chat with a Ranger. They are going to start ticketing riders that are night riding. The park closes at dusk....

Nice looking bike. I like how you offset the tire logos to the wheel graphics.

I didn’t see who was doing it, but there were no horse tracks, only a large tennis shoe with a spike type sole, so it appears to be a man. If I saw it being done I would have definitely addressed it.

I’m sticking with a rogue golfer only this time I’ll add in [due to the evidence photo] he was hitting his stride.

No way a golfer would sabotage the trail, (I also golf). However, anti-Mountain Bike, hiker activist types are the usual typical trail saboteur and I’m sure that’s the case here.

I skimmed this photo a couple of times and now just noticed that’s you in the helmet. Didn’t even see a face in there previously. Scared the shit out of me when I finally did.

Sandstone Peak above Malibu coast last Friday...in the snow and ice! Juxtaposed with the burn area from the Woolley fire, was a bit surreal.

Local loop was open yesterday for riding but there was too much mud on parts of the trail and I had to hike a bike. I think by the end of the ride my bike was several pounds heavier with mud.

Oooo looks fun! Trail looks familiar. Which is that one? Couple weeks ago I was near Whiting Ranch, did the Dreaded Hill in the pouring rain.... muddy, slopping and fun as hell. Of course, the LBS had to tear apart my my bike to really clean it otu.

Riley park in Cota de Coza:

Orange County, California - Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park

It's a short, 3.5 mile loop with just enough steep climbs to get in a cardio work-out. Pic taken from the top of 'heart attack hill.' It took me 2 hours to get the mud off my bike and my shoes are still covered in mud. Looks like Whiting is still closed, but almost everything else in the OC is open. Your brave for doing dreaded hill in the rain--I still suffer climbing mustard!

My first trip to Mammoth was a three day weekend, on closing weekend! I think I hit everything black diamond and above. The Pro Lines are just SO much fun! I think I did Chainsmoke about 10 times, Velocity the same. I can't wait to go back next year. We already have two weekends planned (my friends and I).

Couple shots I took mid race at the Grizzly100. A section of the recently repaired part of Seven Oaks Rd right before South Fork (it's not complete yet). The other was shot on the climb up Radford Rd.

Even when suffering up that climb, I had to pull my phone out and take a shot.

I installed a rear brake on my sons balance bike (specialized hotwalk) and it improved his confidence 3 fold. Here he is ripping down a rocky section near the damn at Calavera. I have seen grown men walk their bikes down this section.

Franklin Canyon turns out I when I got to this spot the trail I took had no-biking on it, which at the bottom it did not. It's a single track that required me to hike my bike parts of the way(not sure if it's me or some of the sand). Went down the other way around, which is double track with less sand.

It is funny when you are so intimate with an area after 25 years of riding it that you can identify it from a few rocks of a certain type!

It is a network of trails in the mountains south of Cathedral City (Coachella Valley). They are popular in the winter for people out of the area.

I *think* desert wheeler was agreeing that it was A goat trail (his other photos were from the Barstow area) rather than THE Goat Trails at the bottom of PCE in Palm Springs. I could be wrong though.

Yeah I thought that’s what he meant at first. My bad. But this goat trail sounds like my kind of place!

Citrus and big mountains. Pretty unique to SoCal.

And one from last weekend’s adventure ride near Idyllwild.

My Friday photo was on the old HWY 38, known now as "Loch Leven". The Saturday photo was in Palm Springs.
