    Rangers out at Teds?

I heard from a couple of people today that Berms Trail was destroyed at Teds, possibly by Rangers. Anybody have any info about this, and why now? Not issuing tickets from what I hear.

Thatís what I hear- will confirm tomorrow as it is in my backyard. I will say the traffic there has been increasing over the past six months to the point where something was bound to happen. This isnít the first trail to be demolished recently. The rains are ideal for building- please use those efforts over at black mountain on black widow. The secret is out and itís not good. Time to go elsewhere for some time please.

Yup- done by Fish and Game from what I was told. Expect more destruction and or tickets if people keep coming and building.

Was there a big uptick in building? It never seems very busy there.

I heard it s not Fish and Game land, but the city gave them permission to go in.

    Source?

From PQ Ranger Melanie (PQ rangers are responsible for the city land there) Jason Price from the state (CDFW) went in and tore out a new trail that crossed both the fed and city land. He contacted the city to get the permission completely take both sides to stop the incursion into CDFW land.

So once again, trails getting built on land where there is no permission get removed and everyone gets up in arms. It isn't land where permission was granted and the removals will happen from time to time. It will not get better and may be pushing it into a whole other level of enforcement like DMM 4 years ago.

Who's building the trails? Tweakers with 8 inch travel bikes? In the dead of night?

I don't know who but the fact remains the trails appeared. As far as why things get taken down, here is a map to help explain ownership. Nowhere does it say free to build without consequences.

Ya, it's not like there aren't plenty of dumbed-down blue square trails to ride that are totally legal and basically just as good.

The guys doing the destruction physically charged some friends of mine. They questioned why he was tearing down trails on non CDFG land and his response was to start yelling at them and trying to physically intimidate them. He could have easily said that they discussed it with the city and everyone was on board. Would have been a non issue with the riders since we all know the status of that entire riding area. The riders in question were not 18 YO kids either, one is a 50+ YO pilot for a major carrier and the other is a 40+ YO.

Just be aware that things are pretty hot out there right now. And please for the love of everything that is good in this world stop building new trails out there. If you see someone else building take the time to explain to the politely that they are putting the entire riding area in jeopardy. Last time we went through this with the sandbag lines some of the riders went down and tore trails down themselves. Self policing is the only way this will get any better.

It really sucks that we lost two trails that have been there for a long time because someone was building a new trail.

I'm willing to bet that the You Tube video with 80k + views featuring Ted's brought a lot more traffic and attention to the area than that guy's Instagram with 400 followers.
