    Irvine bike shop recommendation

What are your favorite shops? I'll be in Irvine next weekend and want to buy my daughter a bike, probably a ~$1K hardtail. Main criteria for choosing a shop are pre- and post-sale service and convenience to UCI. I don't care too much what brands they carry.

andy - If your daughter is a UCI student there's Zot Bicycle, a small stand on campus that can take of minor service and repairs if needed.

There is no shortage of excellent bike shops in the area, though most will require a short drive. I think Trails End is the closest to UCI, but Jax, Rock N Road, Irvine Bicycles, REI, and The Cyclist in Newport Beach are also nearby. If you have to get in a car then The Path in Tustin (a favorite of many) and Orange Cycle (great selection and prices) are not much further away. Too many good choices, actually.

Thanks. I was thinking The Path but she has a nearly new beach cruiser to sell and it looks like Jax will buy your old bike via Bicycle Blue Book.

Rock n'Road also has a trade in program with BBB.

I have yet to find the selection, pricing, service and follow up help The Path provides anywhere else. Plus they have riding classes for beginners that are free if you buy a bike there. Sell the bike on Craigslist, or go down to Huntington Beach bike path on the weekend and sit there with a for sale sign on it, cruisers sell quick down there.

Is she a student at UCI? Will bike be used around campus or stored in dorm? My experience with college bikes are: it will be stolen, or left outside often to deteriorate. Most bikes I have seen on campus are old hand me down bikes.....

The Path in Tustin is close and a phenomenal mountain bike shop.
