    Big Bear - Cabin Re-route

Kudos to whoever re-routed the grunty little uphill halfway down Cabin; that's nice work! I had geared down ready for the climb and had a "wha....?" moment when I suddenly didn't recognise the trail I was on :-)

Your mod has improved the trail, thanks!

Has anybody been down Trick or Treat or Plantation Trail yet?

    So it's easier now?

We did section 1 ( of 5 ) for Cabin 89 on June 3rd, National trails day. Check out trailfoundation.org for more info.
The idea for Cabin 89 is to make the trail rideable both up and down while not losing the quirkiness of the original

No, it's just more of a sustained DH "flow" and skips a part that wasn't very interesting before.

I'm not convinced that the two gravel drops at the start of the DH run will ever be rideable uphill (not by me anyway!). Thanks for your good work!

Yep. Trick or Treat is an illegal trail now but the lower section (after the rock/tree obstacle) has been incorporated into Skyline. Plantation is open.

Unfortunately, the beginning of Cabin 89 won't be done for awhile, if at all, some political issue on that section that I'm not really clear about.
The next two sections to be re routed are the steep and loose descent near the actual Cabin # 89 and then down below the section that was re routed already.
You should watch the website for updates and come on out to cut the new trails. We will be doing some afternoon trail work and some Saturday morning work also.

It looks like there was a typo in the website address, should be trailsfoundation.org.

...and then the loggers came through and chewed it up... :-( Five or six spots from the Cabin split and all through the new section; looks like they might not be finished yet too.

What? So the new section just got logged? I'll have to take a look.

Thanks for catching the web address.
