Listen! Urgent: Go Fund Me -- Pump Track in Oakland!

Bicycle Trails Council of the East Bay - BTCEB.org
Published by Lauren Haughey October 6 at 11:07 AM
Thanks to the efforts of a core group of dedicated volunteers, and support from the Bicycle Trails Council East Bay (BTCEB) and the Oakland Composite High School MTB club - the city of Oakland has approved the permit for a pump track in the city of Oakland's Joaquin Miller Park. The Oakland pump track will be free and open for all; situated on city owned park land (not currently being used), and built and maintained by the community.

Please join our efforts to help fund raise for this project! Donations are tax deductible. Donate, and read more about it here ...

This is awesome and I just supported it! Any details on where in the park the pump track is planned?

Yeah, I don't understand the location either. Seems clearly to be Redwood Park.

    Here's where I got the info: https://www.facebook.com/OaklandDEVO...0749290211989/

Will it be better than the Mclaren bike park? 😂. Exciting to have more of these!

If you look at the JMP map attached, that spot is part of JMP and not Redwood. Remember, Skyline Blvd is NOT the boundary of JMP. The park crosses the road as well.

The Oakland zoo was at JM way back ,the area where the track is going is where they disposed of elephant dung.

Every pump track I have been to is better than McLaren, so I would guess the answer is yes, before it's even built

Thanks for the sticky! An anonymous philanthropist just donated $500, so we're past $13k now. Getting very close.

This just in from the Environmental Steward (Mike Perlmutter):

"I checked in with some botanists that know the area, and checked in the records. The site has been heavily disturbed and is not known for rare plants. "

    We are set to go.

First thing is to remove the invasive plants at the site.
Perhaps we should set up an on site meeting with Mr Perlmutter to mark what plants need to be removed, then a work date. MORGAN, perhaps do the work after school hours so that the kids can get involved? Or get a group of the retire folks to do it?

While we are doing this could Ryan, Kevin and Henry find the soil we need as per Mr Perlmutter's instructions.

Stan, where do we stand with public works helping spread the soil?
Over 14000$ ,need at least 15000$.

If you said $14,000-$15,000, that is a stupid amount of money for a pump track that could be mostly volunteer labor. What a joke CA is. I will still support the cause, as I will use it weekly. But really. What a bonfire of cash. Good job though. Thank you.

The track will be built with volunteer labor ,the money will go to getting the dirt ,moving it to the site etc.I heard the Incline Village track cost over 50,000$.

14k to 15k seems reasonable for all the little things that add up planning this awesome project.
I'm pumped for it to be built and plan on helping as much as I can.

THE PUMP TRACK IS ALMOST A REALITY!
We passed our last inspection and are ready to get to work. Does anyone know a source to buy ultra clean certified soil that could be delivered to the work site?
    AND...AND... AND...
WE NEED MORE DONATIONS TO MEET OUR FUNDING GOAL OF $16,000.
Please consider a donation, even if it's just a few bucks. This email goes out to 3600 bikers. If everyone thru in a few bucks we would hit out goal.

Might be able to help with soil.

Any idea on how many cubic yards? And how quickly do you anticipate needing the soil?

Feel free to PM to exchange info.
