    Tower 2 Town - Shuttle?

I'm planning to ride Downieville with some friends the first weekend in October. We were thinking of riding down from the Sierra Buttes tower. Who has done this? Is it worth the effort?

We will actually have two 4x4s (tacoma & LX.. both on KO2s). Is it worth shuttling up the 4x4 trail to the top? I'm always stoked to combine offroading and mountain biking... but this may be a situation of diminishing returns.

FWIW, we will be meeting up in Downieville and heading to Tahoe afterwards... so self shuttling is a decent option.

    Thx, CBZ

Itís a good trail if dozens of hikers arenít coming up it.

Did this three weeks ago. Did some hike a bike up. From packer saddle.
The views are first class and well worth the effort for me.
    I say, do it.

IMHO it's a silly section of trail for riding. It's poorly designed trail, mostly in the falline and a skidfest at best. Throw in hikers and it's a circus. If you have never been up there, it's worth checking out the views, they're spectacular. If you have, maybe try the new section/Gold Valley Rim Trail.

I have ridden it a handful of times and don't find it to be a skidfest or too steep at all. Think it has nice flow, and is a ripper if there are no hikers. The super wide jeep road sections are kind of meh but other than that its a great trail with amazing views.

Buddy of mine just did Tower to Nevada City. Haven't had a chance to talk to him about it yet, but saw the Strava track. 74.2 miles, 12,600 vert in 11 hours. Burly.
