TNGR Thursday Night Gap Ride, 8/19

Thinking ROLL by 6 pm or earlier if you're a slowpoke like me. Who's in? Team Cebedo?

I have the unfortunate task of tasting a test batch of cookies for y'all tonight. I might have to taste another batch Wednesday night, too.

I'm down 2 bikes so I don't have one for you, unless you want to ride a 35# SS dirtjumper...

    What's wrong with the Mojo?

Cracked rib and shoulder from N* crash, so healing to get Mammoth trip in tree weeks. Hope I can start riding slowly next week.
I used to run tubes like you are, but then I got thorn in my wheel.

Heh, thanks for the offer. I may just come up with my commuter bike (heavy and rigid, 14-years old, fenders(!), street tires, road cassette).

The talas on the fork completely died, so I was basically riding bottomed out. Luckily it happened at the beginning of a ride. Unfortunately it happened after I cleared a whole day to go riding, drove out to demo and geared up (it was ok before at home when I checked the fork pressure). Probably / hopefully it's covered under warranty (edit: just got the call: it's not).

Lol, yeah it's not a Blur.

If there's something wrong with a Mojo it's likely due to a Shimano or Fox part

    Dammit Victor

N* crashes suck. The ratio dirt/rocks is too low there.

Mammoth trip eh? mmh. I'm taking a break from work in about 3 weeks (if I don't have to go to Europe...) I may think about it.

I hope to make it tonight. A trip to the east coast last week, sans bike, means it's been way too long since I've ridden.

    Ouch! Heal up quick, Victor!

Looks like we'll have a small-ish group today. Nevertheless, I will be bringing:

    1) Chocolate chip cookies
    2) Beverages
    3) A new MTBR riding friend

K-Max...we have one sitting in the garage too!...in original box and in great working condition...people still want them! Lots of audiophiles actually prefer records to digital recordings. We used to run it through a N.A.D. reciever and amplifier, a Nachamichi cassette recorder/player and A.D.S. speakers and a Monster line conditioner and wires. Always wanted a Mcintosh amplifer-but I just use Bose for the most part now-easy to use and sounds good. We used to buy all our car and home audio at Century Stereo on Bascom...they're in El Paseo now.

K-max- ohhh that sounds awesome I wouldnt mid coming by and taking a look at it.

No one listens to vinyl anymore??? I actually have no clue about vinyls myself, I'm looking at one for my friend who loves music. I was hoping to get her a record player so that she could enjoy some vinyls.

That's cool, Robert. Yeah, if I had any notions of using it, I'd keep it. But I have a weird thing about owning stuff I know I won't use. It's like holding something hostage that could live a free life elsewhere. Besides, records take up room and streaming digital music and ipods do not.

Peter, I can't ride, but I may show up for your beer! Yum.

If anybody ruined the ride for anybody, it was the rangers, not you.

Good ride, though, all around. Man, it's amazing what two weeks of no biking will do to your fitness, though!

We had a nice turnout tonight. Rode with a couple of people I haven't seen in a while, plus a couple new faces! It was nice meeting Glen and Debra. We were having a nice chill ride until we got the smack down at the Peter's Creek singletrack. First, we come across 2clueless taking soil samples and getting intimate with the poison oak. Glad you're okay! Then I almost rear end Zen_Turtle at the bottom of the straightaway when we slammed on the brakes while coming up on rox and sirkrameroy having a pow-wow with a couple of rangers. While writing up rox, Ranger picked up the gun and supposedly tagged us at 21mph. Then while lecturing us, he picked up the gun and supposedly tagged bailout at 21mph. The rest of us were let off with a warning. We *****ed about it for a bit, but still finished our ride in pretty good spirits. I got a lot of smiles in my photos tonight!

No it does not. My POACHING of trails fine has not either. The son of a gun rangers ask for your ID (CA DL).

Sucks about the ticket. Go to court and get it lowered down.

Those pictures look great, too bad I didn't make it (had a last-minute dinner date).

What a bummer about the ticket. I second the advice to go to court, plead guilty and get a lower fine, if you have the time.

Wow, a speeding ticket, what a bummer. They must have found out about the fast crew in the TNGR coming by at 7pm, since there weren't any rangers when I passed by a little earlier or where they hiding behind the trees?
Anyway, good to see everyone ever so briefly on the trail. My new Blur paid of with a 5 second PR on a 1hour 36 minute ride. That's a lot of money per second. You think I should ask for a refund?

LOL!!! The trailcops are just pissed since their large beerbellies prohibit them from being able to ride at such speeds.

Speeding tkts on a MTB is absolutely disgusting in so many ways. I would be too embarrassed to give one out. They must have no sense of pride to do something like that. I understand tkts on the Hwy in your car/motorcycle obviously but them being all sneaky and sitting there just to tkt some people out enjoying nature and clear air is pathetic. I hope they get poison oak on their genitals! ******bags!

damn! ticket! it's more expensive than a carpool violation.

go to court, plead no contest. the judge will likely lower it.
