    SVmtb at work

So someone on the NorCal flatlined thread said we need some activity on here so I have some Silicon Valley Mtb club updates after talking with Sean the current president.

Iíll start this off with everyone is impressed with what the MBoSC has accomplished, for those of us on this side of the hill the SVmtb group is hard at work putting our cause forward with POST, GGnra, Midpen, and Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. I know there is a lot of frustration about how slow things happen here and how the counties, equestrians and environmentalists treat the MTB community but constant interaction with these groups is what has helped projects like Mt Umunhum include bikers.

I was asked to keep some sensitive issues confidential as it might end up being counterproductive at this point, but some things they are working on are:

    1) Advocacy for biking in the Castle Rock st park as they are redoing their master plan

    2) Working with the new director of the midpen board hoping to expand access to the new trails opening in La Honda, as well as pushing forward the planed MTB access to that area from El Corta de Madera.

    3) SVMTB sponsorships of the Black mountain MTB team and the Woodside beasts.

    4) Donation to the Bay Area Ridge Trail as a Trail Conservationist and To the Sustainable trail coalition.

    5) Development of a promotional video to help the Woodside bike community advocate for more surface street trails to keep kids off dangerous paved roads, also expanding bike accesss in the adjacent windy hill region.

6). Finally a subject they asked to be vague on: exploring new opportunities for a potential route linking the peninsula to the sea on all dirt.

In any event, while the weather is nasty itís nice to see folks at work to find us more riding opportunities.
