    South Lake Tahoe in May

How goes it!!! I'm curious how the trails/weather is in may in the south Lake Tahoe area. I am planning a vacation here in may of 2014 and can't decide if I want to go to Tahoe or Sedona I'm really just looking for some good dirt to ride and get away from this Japan jungle I'm used to ridding. Any help will be appreciated!

When I lived in the Tahoe area most ski resorts close the last week of April and usually closed due to the lack of customers not snow. A big snow year and there will be too much snow to hit trails in May. It seemed to me that there was some sort of impact (snow) to higher elevation trails till June. Sedona will be warm and no snow for sure. I have only ridden in Sedona once, but found it to be a mt. bike haven for trails. Go for the red dirt. Cheers

Yeah, can't count on much dirt riding in May around Tahoe. Hit Sedona!

    South Lake Tahoe in May

Tahoe in May is too much of a gamble to plan a trip around. Go else where.

Sedona can be pretty hot by the end of May, but it's a great place to ride. Flagstaff is just up the road, but is much cooler because of the elevation.

And you could do a lot worse than Santa Cruz/Bay Area/Mendocino!
Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice--pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

Typically the high country is just opening up, there should be plenty to ride but the highest routes are usually not fully open till the end of June. The last two years most everything has been open by mid June due to low snows, but you cant count on that.

much better odds of riding in june than May but even then you takes yer chances. There's plenty of lower elev trails within 1hr that are doable in May so check them out as well.
