The Shells (Redwood/Foster City) for Lunch Ride?

For locals that know The Shells in RWC/FC...

Times are getting busy with kids, work and life in general. Normal rides are getting harder and harder to keep up with, so I need a good lunch option. I work near the Bay Trail next to the San Mateo bridge in FC and figured on days where I don't feel like driving out to Water Dog, I can just ride down Bay Trail/Beach Park Blvd in Foster City towards The Shells. A few questions though before I try it out...

    - On google maps, is it the BMX park next to Shorebird park??
    - From what I gathered, I don't think it's all "advance" features but I want to confirm that there are some beginner/intermediate features
    - Is it all jumps or some "pump track-ish" like stuff?

    Thanks and appreciate any help!

Turn left on the road where Ranch 99 is. You can google map the rest. Some smaller jumps, but the good stuff are bigger. There is a big table and a smaller table that some what ties into half a pump track section.

Take the bay trail till you see the little park/playground on your left (heading towards SF before the bridge) and you will see small trail heads on the right, take any of them towards the shore and you'll see the jumps. They'll likely need work, there's a few small tables, doubles and a mini pump track that runs decent. You can make your own track by linking different lines.

If you keep going past there the couple bigger parks ahead have some fun lines. The dog park is a good crank up to the view and then as long as the coast is clear you can drop the back side at quite fun speeds.

Further past that near the marina are some fun lines too. I never rode MTB always my CX

Is there enough pump track to make a loop of rollers and berms?

Even just 3-4 would be very helpful. Thanks!

Btw, if you are not super comfortable with jumps, bring thick pads. Shells is call shells b/c the soils contain broken shells that cut flesh open pretty sharply.

Awesome! Thanks for all the information from everyone. Looks like according to the map I'm a hop, skip and a jump away from my work, so I'll be gearing up, jumping on the hardtail and rolling down the Bay Trail for the lunch time action. No driving needed which is great. Time to dust off the hardtail and bring some pads.

    Thanks all, appreciate it.

Finally got around to checking out the spot. Good fun and enjoyed that there's a bit of something for every level. Thanks for the input all.

On a side note... it's a serious workout if you're not conditioned for dirtjump/pump track type riding.

Make sure your tires are at pretty much max psi, first time I went there on an MTB it felt like a sloth at trail pressures.

I'm just super out of shape and out of condition... haha. I was actually on a dirt jumper with pump track tires and still felt sluggish... =P Pressures around 40, so figured it was high enough relative to knobbies.

Some pics of Shells. Not the greatest pics to capture the place but it's a start. No action shots unfortunately
